Yu Cheng-Long the Good Officer
Prosecutor Yu Cheng-Long just arrives in Fu Jian, and he soon discovers the previous Prosecutor mis-trialed a “Pirate Case” and jailed more than ten thousand innocent civilians, leaving the society shaken. He must reopen the case to release the innocent and lower their burden in heavy taxation. He takes the dangerous move to ask Duke Kang Qin for help, while he deals with the very stubborn and paranoid Le Chun and Ka Lin. Duke Kang Qin is moved by Cheng-Long’s determination. Together they overcome the obstacles and restore peace. Yu Cheng-Long is promoted, and with the blessings of the local people, he starts his new journey.

Female General of the Yang Family
It is supposed to be a merry day. Lady She, who is a century old, is preparing for her grandson Zhong-Bao’s fiftieth birthday. The horrible news of Zhong-Bao’s perishing in a battle against King of Xi Xia arrives very suddenly. The state is shaken by the news, and thinking of negotiating peace. Lady She has to set aside her grief to fight against the Royal Court’s intention of pleading for peace, and leads her widowed daughter-in-law Lady Chai, granddaughter-in-law Mu Qui-Ying, and her great grandson Yang Wen-Guang to battle. After a difficult fight, they defeat Xi Xia and return in triumph.

Thrice Promoted
Thrice Promoted is an adaptation of a classic and celebrated cross talk piece by the famous Maestro Liu Bao-Rui. The story is about Zhang Si-Hai, an illiterate and up-to-no-good rich boy, who goes to the capital city to take the placement test. He hands in a blank sheet, but with the help of Wei Zhong-Xian, he wins the first place. He is then sentenced to death, after being framed by a poem mocking Wei Zhong-Xian. In the end, he helps to reveal Wei Zhong-Xian’s treason scheme and is promoted thrice into the royal privy chamber, a series of ridiculous satire.

A Battle of Wits at Fortress Lian-Huan
Cheif Dou Er-Dun of Fortress Lian-Huan has an old grudge with Huang San-Tai. He steals a horse, a royal gift, from Lord Liang to frame Huang San-Tai. Huang San-Tai’s son, Huang Tian-Ba, is a young man of strength and wits. Pretending to be a security guard, he gets into the Fortress to look for the horse. He then reveals his real identity to Dou Er-Dun and makes a deal to have a contest of martial arts with Dou on the next day. If Dou Er-Dun loses, Dou will have to bring the horse back and turn himself in.

A Contest of Poetry
Shen Zhong is looking for a young man to wed his daughter Shen Wan-E. He decides to select someone via a contest of poetry-composition. He invites three young man. Among them Ku Zi-Yu has real talent; Che Bu-Qing bids his sister, Jing-Fang, to compose for him; and Niu Si-Wen bids his friend, Xie Ying, to compose for him. Shen Zhong can’t decide from just reading the poems, so he asks to see their placement test scores.
Niu Si-Wen wants to try his luck with Jing-Fang. Jing-Fang also tests him with poetry. Niu Si-Wen, again, tries to fool her with Xie Ying’s work. Xie Ying doesn't want to fool a beautiful and innocent lady, so he writes her a poetry of mockery.
On the day the test scores are released, Niu Si-Wen and Che Bu-Qing both pretend they have been placed first, only to be revealed by Ku Zi-Yu and Xie Ying, who actually gets placed. Shen Zhong marries his daughter to Ku Zi-Yu and tries to connect Xie Ying and Che Jing-Fang. Xie Ying passes Jing-Fang’s test of poetry. Misunderstandings are resolved, and they get married.
